Today our friends at the Victorian Law Reform Commission hosted and helped film a conversation between the Honourable Justice Anthony North and anthropologist Scott Cane facilitated by Nick Gadd, which will form part of an upcoming research translation workshop about Aboriginal cultural trade in Australia.
Justice North and Scott discussed the long and globally significant histories of trade of objects and cultural knowledge by the first people of Australia and its significance to native title law.
This work forms part of the #FollowingtheTradeRoutes project led by the Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre in collaboration with the Centre for Heritage and Museum Studies ANU and the South Australian Museum
More on how to engage with the workshop soon.
